Odoo for businesses in the United States
Out of the box, Odoo is country-neutral. A US company needs sales tax by state, ACH payments, 1099 reporting and a chart of accounts its CPA recognizes. Community Edition plus a handful of OCA modules covers all four.
US accounting and sales tax
We load the US chart of accounts and set up sales tax by state and county. Odoo Community does not bundle a tax-rate service, so rates are entered for the states where you have nexus, or pulled in through a connector when you sell into many of them.
ACH payments, cards and banking
The OCA modules account_banking_ach_base and account_banking_ach_credit_transfer generate NACHA files, so vendor payments go out as ACH batches straight from Odoo. Card payments run through the Stripe and Authorize.net connectors. Pre-formatted US check printing is an Enterprise module.
1099 reporting and GAAP statements
l10n_us_form_1099 flags the vendors whose payments you report to the IRS and totals them at year end. l10n_us_gaap installs a GAAP-style chart of accounts, and l10n_us_mis_financial_report builds the balance sheet and income statement in the layout your accountant expects.
Hosting and data residency
Run Odoo on your own servers or in a private cloud in a US region, so customer and financial data stays inside the country. Community Edition has no per-user license, which leaves hosting and support as the only recurring costs.
