Quote, Confirm, and Invoice From a Single Screen

Odoo Sales is the quotation and sales order application in the Odoo suite. You build a quote from your product catalog, send it as a web link the customer can read, sign, and pay online, and the moment they accept it becomes a confirmed order. That order then drives the delivery, the invoice, and your revenue reports, with no one retyping the details. Prices, discounts, taxes, and terms all live on the same record.

It suits a shop confirming a handful of orders a day as much as a wholesaler pushing out hundreds. Save quotation templates for the products you sell often, set customer- or region-specific pricelists, and let the app offer optional extras while the buyer is deciding. A self-service portal lets customers check status and pay when it suits them. Since Sales shares one database with Inventory and Invoicing, stock counts and account balances stay current on their own.

In the Community edition, Odoo Sales carries no per-user license fee, which starts to matter once your order desk grows past a few people and subscription tools begin charging for every seat. At Aerya we implement, host, and customize Odoo Sales for companies across the United States, shaping quotation templates, pricelists, approval rules, and reports around the way your team already sells instead of forcing your process into a default screen.

How It Works

From Quotation to Paid Invoice

A normal sales cycle in Odoo Sales, stage by stage, with each hand-off recorded on the same order.

01

Build the quotation

Start from a blank quote or a saved template and pull products straight from your catalog. Odoo applies the right pricelist, taxes, and any agreed discount as you add each line. Attach optional extras, set a delivery date, and choose payment terms before the quote leaves your desk.

02

Send it and let the buyer respond

Email the quotation as a web page the customer opens in any browser. They can read the lines, ask a question in the message thread, accept with an electronic signature, and pay a deposit or the full amount online. Each action shows on the order as it happens.

03

Confirm and hand off to the warehouse

When the customer accepts, the quotation becomes a confirmed sales order. Odoo checks stock, creates the delivery order in Inventory, and sets an expected shipping date. If a product is short, you see it here before you promise a date the warehouse cannot meet.

04

Deliver against the order

The warehouse picks and ships from the same order, so nobody re-keys quantities. If the customer changes the amount, or a line goes out in two shipments, the order and its back-order stay in step. Lot and serial numbers follow through when you track them.

05

Invoice and get paid

Invoice on ordered or delivered quantities, whichever your policy sets, and send it from the order in a click. The customer pays through the portal, the payment reconciles against the invoice, and your reports show margin, average order value, and what each rep closed.

Community vs Enterprise

Odoo Sales in Community vs Enterprise

Sales is a full Community application, so most teams we set up never need to pay for a license.

Recommended

Community Edition

Everything you need to sell is in the free Community edition: quotations and reusable templates, pricelists and discounts, online quotes customers can accept and sign, a self-service portal, and the links into delivery and invoicing. Users are unlimited and there is no license fee, ever. Paired with OCA modules, this covers almost every order desk we implement, so it is our default recommendation.

Enterprise Edition

Enterprise adds recurring and subscription billing through the Subscriptions app, the Studio visual builder for changing screens without code, and a few reporting extras. If a large share of your revenue is subscription based, or you want in-house drag-and-drop customization, the per-user subscription can pay for itself. When it will not, we say so rather than push you toward it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Odoo Sales free to use?
Yes. The Sales app is part of the open-source Community edition, which is free to download and self-host with unlimited users. You pay for hosting and for any implementation or customization help you choose, not for per-seat licenses.
Does Odoo Sales handle US sales tax?
Odoo calculates tax on every order line from the rates and fiscal positions you set up, so it handles US sales tax once those rates are configured. Because rates differ by state, county, and city, teams selling across jurisdictions often add county data with the OCA l10n_us_base_county module or connect a dedicated tax engine. We help you decide which approach fits your footprint.
Can we bring our products and price lists from another system?
Yes. Products, customers, and price lists import from spreadsheets, and Odoo maps the columns to its fields during the import. If you are moving off QuickBooks, Zoho, or another order tool, we scope the data mapping up front so quotes, catalog, and pricing land clean on day one.
How long does an Odoo Sales implementation take?
A standard setup, catalog and pricelists, quotation templates, the customer portal, and user training, usually runs one to three weeks. Custom pricing logic, approval steps, or an integration with your warehouse or accounting adds time, which we estimate before we start.
Do we need Enterprise for Sales, or is Community enough?
Community includes the full quotation and order workflow, so most teams stay on it. Enterprise mainly adds subscription billing and the Studio builder. If you want extra order automation without paying per user, OCA modules in sale-workflow cover order types, approval tiers, and automated invoicing.
